About
DUNE surfing is a development programme under the umbrella of Friends of Chintsa. The project aims to give underpriviliged rural schoolkids the opportunity to learn and experience the world of surfing and provide the opportunities such a programme offers these kids.
The Situation
Currently kids in the area have very few opportunities in terms of sport development. The area ironically offers the perfect environment to acquire skills and the healthy lifestyle surfing offers. There are endless beaches, surf breaks and skilled resources accessible to offer this opportunity to kids.
Fundraisers
Learn to Swim
The DUNE surf project has received R300 through donations. This money will be used on the 28 March for selection. FOC is doing a beach festival in conjunction with the learn to swim program and NSRI.Problem is that we need more to actually get the project running into the future.

The project is aimed at kids between the ages of 10 and 16 years, but does not necessarily exclude other ages. The proposed basic skills training to be included in the project is:
- Introduction to Equipment
- Understanding the Ocean

- Equipment Maintenance
Opportunities Outcome
The intention of the programme is not only to offer a healthy alternative lifestyle to underpriviliged kids, but also create the opportunity to enter surfing career opportunities:
