FRIENDS OF CHINTSA COMMITTEE MEETING

2009-02-03

-register and attendance was recorded: Mike, Lara, Werner, Kate, Nokaphumla, Simon and Jo. Martelize absent, Werner in her place.

We discussed perhaps putting all minutes and further information from meetings on www.wikemy.org. Nokaphumla will have internet access soon and Simon suggested that a notice board at the entrance to chintsa village would be a good idea.

-income statement/balance sheet Werner went through the main points regarding the income statement and Balance sheet. There is currently R16, 108 of total assets, which are 100% donations towards education projects.

-constitution Martelize has used her experience to write a constitution which will be officially recognised. We discussed page 2 clauses 6, 7, 8 regarding Duties and Membership Werner to make changes to constition regarding these points. The amended Constitution will be emailed to committee members, and discussed at meeting, point to point on the 9th Feb. 09 at 2pm.All committee members will be asked to sign and complete the constitution membership form at this meeting. The completed constitution will then be emailed to all Friends of Chintsa members by the 10th Feb, and some extra copies printed by the meeting on the 11th Feb. and open to discussion as part of the agenda.

Footprint Mike suggested that we need to identify some kind of footprint, to understand the exact geography of Friends of Chintsa... It was decided that we would always focus our attentions to the interests and projects where members lived; in the ‘inner scope’, but we would not limit ourselves. As the committee deems appropriate there may be specific situations where funding may be given to a project or interest in an ‘outer scope’ area. For example the Tainton or Mooi plaas areas

Membership form Lara will complete a membership form in time for the Friend of chintsa meeting on the 11th February, where friends will be invited to supply us with their contact details and to make a minimal donation of R10 to become a member. Simon will donate a receipt book and members will have to bring proof of payment if paying by internet transfer.

A portfolio update: conservation Verna is happy to accept position as a reference point to people who have any ideas/interests/projects regarding conservation. Werner is also going to present a slide show on climate change and other issues at the Friends of Cintsa Social Evening. Lara may introduce people to the ‘Stop the Spread’ Replanting project at this function too.

Noquapumla to get consent for collection box at school and feedback to at next meeting. Mike to contact Philip regarding meeting. - Project clean up.
