Urban Renewal of Public Open Space
From twiki
An ongoing initiative to address the social and environmental challenges of our low socio-economic areas. In partnership with local businesses we have transformed waste areas into uplifting, child friendly playgrounds, planted indigenous trees and created a market sellers' area that stimulates local economic development (LED) through the selling of fresh produce from homestead gardens (the current drought and subsequent lack of water security has temporarily halted the food growers' LED initiative. We aim to revitalise this successful project as soon as the water crises is overcome).
