Education fund raising support received from Maritjke Laane and Sonja De Froe Schmidt who visited Bulugha Farm School on an African Heartland Journeys Tour two years ago. They have remained in touch with Mike since then and this is there second show of continued support. The bulk of the funding has, as of 27 July 2009, now been used for the awesome "Urban Renewal - Township to VIllage" project. The first two phases of the playground have been built, approximately 12 indigenous trees planted and the first three market stands developed......please see full details on this project so as to understand the full impact and linkages to Local Economic Development, food production and food security and rehabilitation of urban waste lands.
The Fraser family met with Mike in London over December 08 and donated 100 pounds for use on education related projects which are handled by Volunteer Africa 32 degrees south. Thank you Angus, Anne and Laura for your continued involvement and support for Chintsa. We will keep you informed of development once 2009 strategies are finalised.
July 2009: Thank you to Blue Bell Primary School in the UK who have been busy fundraising and have raised a tremendous £170 to be used on education related projects in our schools. Special thanks to teacher Gemma Brealey who has been instrumental in fundraising for the Friends and Chintsa and also for the amazing donation of children's books the school sent to Chintsa East School in March this year. Many thanks to the pupils, teachers and parents for their generosity. We will keep everyone informed on the wiki on what the money is spent on. Many thanks again.
